Perfect Attendance...NOT!

Well, we made it through one full week of school and had perfect attendance...but then that changed...

Last Sunday I wasn't feeling so well so I went to the little Minute Clinic in town.  I discovered that I had strep throat.  No biggie a little rest and we will be good to go.  Right?  Wrong!  The girls were both showing no signs so I was hoping and praying that I would be the only one...I was not.

On Tuesday morning, Michaela woke up complaining about a sore throat and she had a low grade fever.  We dropped Sophia off at school and headed to the Dr.  She had strep too :(  So she missed Tuesday and Wednesday of school.  She did not mind as she was more than happy to sit and watch old movies.  Praise the Lord Sophia never got it!!!

So Michaela will not be winning the perfect attendance award but then again we didn't last year either...oh well.

Build a Bear

After Orientation at school we headed to Build a Bear!!  The girls love this store.  They had an awesome sale going and the girls had some money from Papa & Gram so they both voted to spend it at Build a Bear.

Here they are getting the little "heart" ready to put in their bears.  They have this cute little saying you repeat and then you put the heart in the bear and they sew it up.

She was very excited

Shocking...Michaela picked a pink bear :)

After the bear is all sewed up then they give them a bath and brush their fur.

Then the girls picked out an outfit for their new friends.  Michaela choose a bridal gown...those of you who know her are NOT shocked by this at all.  Daddy was a trooper getting the bear all dressed.

Sophia choose a pirate outfit for her rainbow bear.  Those who know Sophia well are also NOT shocked by this choice :)  I really think she just wanted the bear to have black boots to match her black cowboy boots at home.

All done!!  Thank you Grammy and Papa for such a special treat.  We love you!!

First Day of School ~ 2012

Lots of emotions swirling around today.  The girls are excited and for that I am so thankful.  Last night we laid everything out and made sure it was all ready to go.  They asked me to straighten their hair and I did.  Their little alarm clocks rang this morning and they popped out of bed ready to go.  Time flies.  I am trying to hold on to each day, every minute.

Michaela ~ 2nd Grade

Sophia ~ 1st Grade

Ready to go...

Three of my favorite people

Silly girls

Prayerfully...best friends forever!

Oh, how I love these two!!

Love the different expressions!!

I did good until I said the last goodbye and then I cried all the way to the car, all the way to work and then some.  I miss them but I know without a doubt they are in the spot where God wants them and for that I am so grateful.

Orientation

This morning we had Orientation for school.  The girls were SOOOO excited.  I am thankful they are still at the age where school is fun!  FBA does a really neat thing where the first thing you do for orientation is a prayer walk.  We start at the ground floor and pray for leadership and then move up a floor with a different pastor praying each time.  They pray for the teachers, parents, and students on each floor.  They asked Michael to pray this year for the fourth floor.  It was a special time for sure.  I am so thankful for a school that values the Lord most of all!

After the prayer walk we met in the chapel to have some praise and worship time and hear all the details of orientation.  We then went to the girl's classroom to meet their teachers, see their desk, explore the room, etc.  Sophia has the same teacher Michaela had last year.  We were really excited as we just loved her last year.

Sophia is too funny.  She wanted me to take another picture just so she could pose...she is a mess!!!

Michaela's teacher this year is wonderful.  As the parents and students gathered she again prayed for the school year.  She cried thanking the Lord for the opportunity to teach...WOW!  So grateful for these two special teachers.  I think it is going to be a great year.

She has the cutest cowboy theme in her room.

I love to see where they sit so when I pray I can visualize them with their friends.

Once we saw their classrooms we headed to have a pizza lunch with all of their friends.  It was so fun and they really enjoyed connecting with friends they had not seen in a few months.

Next stop...BUILD A BEAR...

Back to School Haircut

Today I took the girls to get a back to school haircut.  Michaela got several inches cut off and Sophia got a little bob.  They both are so cute.  They LOVE going to the little salon.  I was thankful to spend the time with them.

Night Away ~ Part II

We woke up and of course headed right back for the pool for a little swim.  Then we went and had a visit with Michael's grandparents.  They are such sweet, godly people.  They really had quite a bit of influence in Michael's life.  They are growing older and more frail with every year so it was nice to spend some time with them.  Especially for the girls.  What great memories...

I love that Gram and Grampy are still holding hands!  They will be married 65 years on Christmas Day.

I was so thankful for the girls...they were so quiet and gentle.  They were constantly offering to help or get something for them.  Precious.  They could sense the need for a calm atmosphere.

On a side note...My parents celebrated 39 years of marriage Saturday, August 4.  Happy anniversary to two people I love dearly.  Thank you for the example you have been to me and Michael.  I love you guys so much!!

Night Away

Friday morning we left town for a night away.  School is starting very soon and we just wanted to spend some family time together before life gets crazy again.  It was lots of fun.  We started with lunch at Olive Garden (Italian food of course).  We stopped at the bookstore to pick up a few books for the girls.  Then we checked in and all we really did was swim with the girls.  It was just a really fun time.  I did not take lots of pictures but below are a few.

Love that little silly face

These two are happiest when eating pasta

Our little swimmers

Great time filled with lots of fun memories
