Random

So this is going to be a total random post...here it goes...

1.  My hubby is still miserable.  I feel so bad for him.  I wish I could make the itching stop.  I can't.  See previous post if you are confused.

2.  My boss is back.  I sure wish I would have gotten all my work done last week.  I didn't.  See previous post.

3.  The girls have their Terra Nova Testing at school this week.  I am trying to figure out FIVE healthy and hearty things to make for breakfast.  Today was oatmeal and strawberries.  Tomorrow is...I don't know yet.

4.  Tomorrow after school Michaela is going out with a friend and her teacher.  She is so excited.  Sophia is so jealous.  I think I am going to be playing lots of Candy land tomorrow night to help her feel better.

5.  Candy land is one of the longest games ever made.  The only game longer is Chutes and Ladders.  I think our Chutes and Ladders is missing :)

6.  Tonight was our last night for the spring Bible study.  It was bittersweet.  I am happy to have another night at home but I miss the fellowship.

7.  The Miracle-Gro plant kits are GROWING (see previous posts)!!  I think I am going to have to move them to bigger pots...oh, boy.  No pressure.  The girls are so excited.  I am just nervous.

That is it.  I am tired.

This picture is old but it makes me smile.  I think they must have just had something blue???  I love these girls!!!

Nurse Nancy

Let me first tell you how I thought this week was going to go...

With last week being very busy I thought this week would be much calmer.  My boss (who also is my father) was going to be gone all week.  That usually means I can really catch up in the office.  The girls had a calm week at school with nothing major going on and things were calm on the church front as well.  I planned on Bible Study on Monday night, nothing Tuesday night, church on Wednesday and nothing Thursday night.  I was going to take a WHOLE day off and maybe even sleep in one day.

So that is what I thought...now for my reality check...

My mom has been having some procedures done and has needed a little help here and there.  My dad is out of town as I mentioned so I have been going over to her house in the morning and afternoon.  Well the little help changed to potential medical emergency on Monday night.  So after getting my girls home, canceling Bible study and getting my family fed and settled for the night I headed to her house to stay with her in case we had to go to the ER.  She was ok through the night and we spent Tuesday morning at the Dr..  Everything is fine (Praise the Lord).  She just needs to really take it easy, no driving or anything major.

So I get her settled, pick up the girls from school go back and check on her one more time.  I am finally heading home Tuesday night with my girls and my hubby calls.  He was a little frantic and said that he is breaking out all over his body with these red bumps.  I immediately tell him to take Benadryl.  He was outside in the woods a lot on Monday so I think it probably has to do with that. We discuss what it might be and I decide to call some of our outdoorsy friends since clearly I would not know the first thing about poison ivy/oak.  I stay inside because of things like that!!  After talking with my good friend we decided it was not anything like that.  So he headed to Minute Clinic and they tell him it is a reaction to a medicine he is on for when he sliced his foot open two weeks ago on an oyster bed in the ocean (that is a whole different story).  He should be better in the morning.  If for some odd reason he is not better in the morning come back in. (I am thinking...no thank you, I don't want him go back if you could not figure it out the first time!)

I did not really buy the antibiotic reaction but we went with it.  After all I was so tired from my moms ordeal.

Note: this picture has nothing to do with the story.  I just love these two little ladies.

Wednesday morning he wakes up and it is much worse.  They are itching, painful, spreading, oozing, and crusting...yuck!! We call his primary care Dr. and they said to come in Thursday afternoon.  After a lot of personal research on the computer.  I think maybe my hubby has chickenpox, I call his mom to confirm he has had them and she announces that she does NOT think he has.  I panic and then quarantine my two little ladies and call the Dr back.  They now can get him in first thing Thursday morning (my how the schedule opens up)!  However, they kindly told me to park in the back and take him in through the back door.

When we got there they put him in this little room and told him not to touch anything or anyone.  I am thinking to myself...I just crawled out of bed with this guy...what do you think he has??

So we finally see the Dr. and they don't know what it is!??!?!?  They think it is some type of bacterial infection but are running lots of labs right now.  He is miserable, running a fever, itching like crazy and overall ready for this to be OVER.  I feel so bad for him.  Please pray for my mom and my sweet hubby!!

So here I am Thursday night and I am completely overwhelmed.  My house is a disaster.  I have more work than I did when I started the week.  My boss comes back on Monday (yikes).  The girls are exhausted.  Maybe next week, I'll have it together....

I think I should have been a nurse.

Just call me Nurse Nancy...my mom and husband do.

Super Saturday

This has been a great Saturday!  Why? You ask...because we had NOTHING pressing!  Other than about 12 loads of laundry I didn't do much on the home front and my girls just chilled.  My hubby worked outside on the lawn. The girls played outside which they love.  Then they played a bit inside  and watched a Disney classic.  We did do one fun project...I had got these little Miracle-Gro  kits for the girls at the end of summer last year on clearance for $5.00 and tucked them away for a rainy day.  Today was that day. It really poured all afternoon which made it so cozy.  The kits were fun, quick, and easy.  The girls did pretty much most of it and I just supervised.  It made very little mess except for when at the very end I knocked one of the little pots over.  The girls love that I was making the mess for once!

Michaela choose the flower only one.  It is supposed to grow sunflowers, marigolds, and two colors of zinnia.

Sophia picked the vegetable one.  It is supposed to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet peppers.

They patiently took turns.  Sophia went first.

Michaela's is in this cute little "terrarium."

So here is the deal...if they grow you will see pictures again.  If not, they will never appear on the blog again.  Let's just say I have not been blessed with a green thumb!!

Too Many Choices

Michaela had gone to the eye specialist a few weeks ago but life had just been too crazy to go pick new glasses out.  Finally this past Thursday night we went to Target to pick them out.  The past three years we have gone to Sears so we were faced with many new choices at Target...too many new choices.  I really let Michaela pick them out.  We help her with some good options and she picks them.  I figure she is the one who has to wear them day in and day out and we want her to be comfortable.  Plus when she is older and says how out of date they were or ugly or whatever I can say she picked them out!!  Win, win.  I kept taking pictures and texting with Grammy to get her vote.  Here are a couple of our top picks...

We did love these sunglasses...maybe someday.  They weren't in the budget this year.

Today we picked up the new glasses and she loves them!!!

Not So Fast

It seems like yesterday my sweet little ladies were sweet little babies.  As we all know babies depend on us for EVERYTHING and for the most part I loved that.  There were those occasional times when I was tired and wish they could...change their own diaper, make their own lunch, etc.  But overall, I love doing for my girls.  As my babies are growing up I find that they are wanting to do things on their own...make their bed, do their hair, etc.  I will be totally honest and keep it real...I don't like it.

Yesterday as we were getting ready for church Michaela needed to have her nail polish taken off.  I started to do it and she immediately said "Mom, I can do this, I don't need help."  I wanted to cry.  Two weeks ago both girls borrowed small purses from me to use for church...I was stunned.  I didn't think we would be sharing purses for years.  I want to scream NOT SO FAST!!  Stop growing up so fast.

They now vacuum their own rooms.  They actually helped me clean the house with real cleaning stuff this weekend.  They can crack open eggs.  Michaela loves to steam mop my floors (I think she does a better job than me).  Sophia ties her own shoes...the list goes on and on.  Don't get me wrong, I am SO proud of them but sometimes I secretly wish that I was still doing all of this for them.

I want to hold on to each moment and cherish each stage of their little lives because they are growing up SO FAST!!!

Which makes moments like these seem forever ago!!!

Cleaning Can Be Fun!

What?!?!  Cleaning...fun...yes, it can be!  When I was a little girl my mom always worked hard at making whatever we were doing enjoyable.  We would play little games and make believe all while getting chores done.  Fast forward 25 years and I am doing the very same with my 2 little ladies.  We often play a game while cleaning.  Today we are playing "pick the room" game. Basically you write one room per little sheet of paper and then fold them up so no one can peek.  Then put all your papers in a bowl or small bucket.   I usually include a break or two depending on how much we are doing.  Today we are attempting to clean most of the house so I included two breaks.  The girls love this game.  We also like to work to music. So we rotate...one girl picks the next room and the other girl picks the music and then we switch.  Thanks mom for all the fun ideas you passed on to us!!!  I am so thankful to be playing these games with my babies.

These girls are sooo silly!!

OK, got to go, breaks over!!

Girls Night

I love Friday nights.  I really love them if we don't have anything to do!!  That would sum up tonight.  It was going to be just us girls and we did not have any strict plans...yippee!!  I picked them up from school and we headed to see Gram for a few minutes and then we headed to the park.

After the park we headed to Zaxby's!  We had some yummy chicken and fried pickles in honor of our Auntie Mimi.  They were so good.

The night could not end without dessert so we headed to McDonald's for an ice cream cone.

After a quick bath to clean up they went to bed.  To continue with the Friday night fun they are sleeping together, which is a special treat we reserve for random weekends.  They love to have little "slumber parties."  I just snuck in and snapped this picture.

I am so grateful for those 2 little ladies!!

Smoky

No, I am not talking about my eye shadow color!  I am talking about the conditions outside my home right now.  We live in Florida and right now we have a large wildfire burning just miles from our house.  One day I will do a little post on all the perks of Florida...wildfires will NOT make the list.  Visibility is not even a half a mile right now.  It is awful.  If you have asthma or any lung issue you just have to stay inside.  Which means my sweet Sophia has spent the last two days at recess inside :(  I snapped a few pictures today while I was out and about.  You better believe we prayed for rain tonight at church!!

These are not the clearest pictures but I think you get the idea!

My front porch has black ash all over it.

From my backyard.  It looks like clouds but it is all smoke.

This was from our parking lot at church.  Nope not clouds just smoke.

We are not singing rain, rain go away but smoke, smoke go away.

Easter Sunday 2012

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,

waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave He arose;

with a mighty triumph o'er His foes;

He arose a victor from the dark domain,

and He lives forever, with His saints to reign.

He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Happy Resurrection Day!!!
